Hey Everyone!

As usual there is LOTS going on here at Kalos, so we thought we'd fill you all in. First the spring newsletter is now out! Jam packed with lots of new articles, comics, recipes, interviews and Chuck Norris quotes this is our best newsletter yet, something you won't want to miss. So come on out to Kalos and pick up your very own copy. It will also be online soon for those of you who will accidentally misplace it in the first 24 hours.

A little info on our summer missions team heading to North Spirit Lake.

North Spirit Lake, a First Nations Reserve in Northern Ontario, has the unfortunate distinction of having had one of the highest substance-abuse rates in Canada. And, due to its small size, it’s not had access to the same resources of other communities.

But in the middle of this, God is doing some great things.
Last summer we had the opportunity to partner with Harvest Time Church (the only church in North Spirit Lake) and one of its members, Chief Rita Thompson, an incredible woman who is dedicated to making a difference in her community.
We were able to make a real, noticeable difference by lending a hand in the most practical way we know how. And we’ve been invited back.

We look forward to returning and connecting with the community once again with our new team of 26 people. We believe strongly that God has and is working in North Spirit  Lake, and has a plan for his people there. Please keep our team and the people of North Spirit Lake in your prayers as we prepare for our journey.

One of the ways we are raising funds for North Spirit Lake is our Coffee sales.  We've partnered with our friends at Fenwick Village Roasters (our local micro-roastery) and come up with our very own North Spirit Lake blend of coffee. This is a fair trade blend with lots of flavour and100% of the profits generated will go directly to the mission. We've named this coffee "Maqua" - the oji-cree word for "bear", and our decaf blend is "Mamaqua" the oji-cree word for "butterfly". Purchase some at Kalos or Faith Tabernacle for only $15 for a 12oz bag. This is one fundraiser you won't want to end, so pick up your bag and help support our First Nations children

On Friday April 23rd everything is going to change! But don't worry this is a good change, we have figured out a way to level the playing field and spark even more team competition. Join us as we have new drafts, and teams are rechosen. Then paint your face, make a cheer, get pumped up and beat the other teams in some intense team competitions. Remember! The members of the winning team will be picked up at their individual houses and chauffered to our Schools Out Bash at the Ricker Farm in a Stretch Limo! Can you say arriving in style? Come on out and see where you end up.

Other amazing events to look forward to are The Amazing Race and Get GLOCAL.

The Amazing Race is back better than ever. Be prepared to run, jump, skip and crawl all over Welland to find your clues and complete the challenges for the final grand prize. Meet us at Faith Tabernacle on June 25 at 5:47pm with a registered group of 4 and find out if you have what it takes to win it all.

To take a stand against global poverty and raise awareness, grab $20, a non perishable food item and a sleeping bag and join us on June 19th for Get GLOCAL. You'll spend twelve hours experiencing the life of the starving, the imprisoned and the global poor while sleeping under the stars in our own refugee camp. Help us make a difference!

And last but certainly not least we still have our awesome UN T-shirts available for sale. Only $10, so buy yours while you still can.

Have a fantastic week everyone! Peace Out!
