So for all of you that have been looking for a great excuse to get in a beach day, here's some details about this Friday's mini-roadtrip to Wasaga Beach.
First, we're leaving at 7:00am sharp (so make sure that you show up by around 6:30ish.... yeah, we know it's early, but since we're going to nap on the beach anyway, it's really just preparation....) which will put us at the beach sometime around 10:00am. Now, here's the important part. We're carpooling - NOT TAKING THE BUS!
This has a couple of implications for you. First, you hafta sign up early so we make sure we have enough people driving. If your parent wants a day-off to bum it at the beach, and they want to volunteer to drive, let us know! We'd love the help (they can contact Pastor Ryan at 905-327-1983).
Second, you need to bring $10 to cover your fair share of the gas money so your driver doesn't go poor while getting you to Wasaga Beach. Hand the money in at the registration desk when you come on Friday morning and we'll make sure all drivers are taken care of properly.
Third, if you're under 18 (and that's most of you!) you need to have your parent / guardian sign this special permission form (
Special Permission Form: Wasaga Beach (289.03 kB)). This is EXTREMELY important and without having it signed you can't come with us!
If your parents are wondering who will be driving for this trip, you can tell them that only youth-leaders or parents (over age 25) will be driving, and if they'd like to know specifically who YOU will be driving with, they can phone Pastor Ryan.
NOW FOR THE FUN PART.... what are we doing at the beach? Swimming, beach football, napping, tanning, and just having the most relaxing beach day in the history of our country... our plan is to be beach bums until late afternoon (think 4ish), then pack up and grab some dinner on the way home. We'll kind of play it by ear as we try to dodge as much T.O. traffic as we can, but we'll be home before 10pm.
So what do you need to bring? Here's the list of recommended stuff...
- Wear your bathing-suit & bring your beach-towel
- SUNSCREEN!!! Don't forget it or we WILL completely smother you in SPF 100 "never-getting-any-tan" sunblock.... no "crisping" allowed!!!!
- Some cold-drinks and a lunch (we'll let you know who you're driving with on Thursday so you can coordinate to put your stuff in a cooler together!) This is REALLY important! Stay hydrated! This means either bring lots of water or $$$ to buy drinks!
- Some $$$ for dinner (or a second lunch to shove in the cooler that you can eat at dinner time)
- A chair and / or beach umbrella (it's gotta fold up small though!!! limited space!!!!)
- Your camera if you plan on documenting this ridiculously awesome day!
- Your surfboard (applies to Nicole only) to ride the mad waves of lake ontario :)
What are WE bringing? KALOS is going to pack...
- The football and the first-aid kit
So, if you have any of the following items and you want to bring 'em, talk to the other people in your car to make sure there's room....then go for it!
- Volleyball
- Cards
- Coolers
- Pool noodles, water-wings or ducky-personal-floatation ring
